Welcome to the Dreaming Aloha Blog

Aloha and welcome! Glad you found us! I believe there are no coincidences and we are meant to connect.

Please let me introduce myself. I’m Susan McIntire and I will be writing to you. I have a degree in journalism from the University of South Carolina, a degree I pursued after deciding to become a journalist at age seven.

I’m also an artist and photographer as well as a writer, so it’s a dream come true for me to pull everything together here for you in one place. While I hope to grow, for now, it’s just me, like the Wizard of Oz behind the curtains.

You’ll find that Dreaming Aloha includes a blend of content related to Hawaii, time and productivity, watches, apparel, and home/living accessories inspired by the Hawaiian Island lifestyle.

99% of the photography you see on the site is my own work. Even if it looks like stock photography, unless otherwise noted as with Gifs especially, it's my own work.

Early in my career I worked for a watch company in marketing and licensing, acquiring multi-million dollar rights to place brands on wristwatches and I’m thrilled to be able to design and offer you my own take on watches. That’s my first focus...This part of Dreaming Aloha, I’m calling "Waikiki Watches."

The tie to the term “Dreaming Aloha” is the fact that I live in Hawaii and greatly admire the culture and aesthetic of the Hawaiian people and islands.

I hope to bring a little piece (or peace) of Hawaii to help you dream big no matter where you are. When you read a bit about my take on things and wear a product I offer, you’re supporting local as they say here in Hawaii.

Hawaii is very much dependent on the world. Everything here exists because of an exchange of culture and goods. It is a true melting pot of international people and I’m very grateful for you taking the time to spend a little of your time here with us. Drop a note to tell me where you're from in the comments!

I’d prefer this to be an interactive site without me just talking At you. Please comment on the posts and contact me with any questions. Your feedback is very important and encouraged.

You can reach me at support@dreamingaloha.com. Remember I’m on Aloha Time or Hawaii Standard Time which is 5 or 6 hours behind East Coast time in the U.S. I’ll reply to everyone and I promise I’ll reply asap.

My goal in starting this blog is to niche down and focus just on the concept of how I can offer value via all the things that I've learned in life thus far. I've got a few areas of experience and expertise that can give shortcuts to people. I'll be writing about wristwatches, time/productivity/habits, and Hawaii, even how to avoid foot pain when on vacation or how to deal with it if you get something like an overuse injury such as plantar fasciitis (80% of us get some sort of foot ailment in our lifetimes and one of the odd things about me is that I'm also a certified foot specialist - not a podiatrist but I have helped hundreds of people with their feet lol).

I’ve always been fascinated by time and hope to inspire you with aloha and a new appreciation of time and Hawaii as well.

I’ll also be launching a podcast under different cover that I"ll link to called "Aloha Susan" (AlohaSusan.com). There I’ll try to bring you news and information about traveling and visiting Oahu by covering the off the beaten track small businesses that don’t get the press the major tourist attractions receive.

Look for a link to the podcast in the menu or just go to AlohaSusan.com to check things out. I plan to offer the podcast on the major outlets like iTunes and Stitcher etc.

Hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any questions, feedback or suggestions.

Let's keep in touch! Please scroll to the bottom of this page and sign up for our newsletter and subscriber-only exclusive discounts.

Mahalo,

Susan McIntire
